Year- council

What is that?

Annual councils initially serve as a link between all the students in a given year and the professors. This prevents a professor from receiving 100 emails from different students.

Besides representing students, the annual council also provides recreational activities within the year. They organize annual cantuses, annual parties, and even provide the annual textiles.

What can you do?

Year Representative

You are the general point of contact for your classmates and Medica. Your role is to coordinate the annual council and represent your year group. The year representative also chairs every annual council meeting. This person is ultimately responsible for every event organized by the annual council.

Education Representative

As the Education Officer, you represent your year group within Medica and the Faculty of Medicine. You're the person responsible for ensuring that problems, such as those related to lessons, are resolved. You're also responsible for ensuring that exam questions are collected each exam period.

Your responsibilities include raising issues from the year group with the Education Working Group (WG Education BMW or GNK) and the Faculty, and communicating solutions and changes back to your year group.

Financial manager

This person is responsible for managing the annual council, i.e., monitoring its financial situation. The manager ensures that the account is opened in the first year and that any changes in responsibilities are also handled at the bank.

Event manager

You are responsible for all recreational activities. Your job is to organize parties, cantuses, cultural and sports activities for your year group, together with the year council. You are responsible for the events and will be present from start to finish. This role is still open to interpretation; feel free to be as creative as you can!

Textile Manager

As the textile manager, you're responsible for the design and logistics of the annual textiles. You can choose to design the annual sweater yourself or have students from the current year create one. You'll manage the sales and organize a distribution event with the rest of the year council.

Of course, a year council can sell more than just a year sweater. For example, a water bottle, drinking cup, and other textiles can be created with your design.

Individual members

Like almost every organization, an annual council can't accomplish many additional tasks without extra help. These are the hands of individual annual council members, who assist with distributing annual textiles, supporting and shifting activities, brainstorming on other ideas, and so on.

Project staff

For those who aren't quite ready to commit to becoming a year council member (yet) but would still like to help out, the role of project assistant is an option. This person will be involved in a specific year council project (a specific party, the year's textiles, etc.), but will not be involved in its operations. This is a good way to get acquainted, both for the student involved and for the year council itself.

RADIO

RaDiO stands for "Reporting and Discussion Body for Annual Councils."
This meeting is usually held three times per semester.
It is important that the Annual and Education Officers of each year are present at these meetings. If someone is unable to attend, they should send someone else from the Annual Council. Each Annual Council must be represented by at least one person at each RaDiO.

What do we discuss at RaDiO?

  • Matters related to specific years.
  • Everything related to the year groups is posted on Facebook.
  • The Presidium listens to problems and brainstorms or contributes to solutions.
  • The Presidium provides support in organizing events.
  • The purpose of this meeting is to maintain active contact between Medica and the Annual Councils.
