What is Development?

Within Medica, the Development unit coordinates all activities that support the growth, development, and broadening of our students. These are initiatives that broaden knowledge, raise awareness, inspire, or broaden students' perspectives. Unlike leisure or recreational activities, these projects are intentionally formative and deepening.

Symposium: Arts Van Morgen

The "The Doctor of Tomorrow" symposium brings together students, experts, and guest speakers to discuss a current and relevant topic in medicine. Each year, we explore a new perspective that stimulates future-oriented care and critical thinking. This year's symposium focuses on "Believing in Medicine," exploring trust, ethics, beliefs, and the role of humanity in modern healthcare.

SAVM 2025

Biomedical Congress

The Biomedical Congress focuses on current and scientifically relevant topics within the biomedical field. During this congress, researchers, experts, and guest speakers share new insights from the lab, the clinic, and the technological innovations that will shape tomorrow's healthcare. It's the perfect opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and discover the latest developments in the biomedical field.

BMC 2025

Develowath?

Development focuses on current themes, social engagement, and international openness. This gives each project an innovative approach and its own unique creative touch.

Social projects

Development strongly focuses on community connection. Examples of activities include:

  • Medica Reads Aloud: students commit to reading aloud to children or vulnerable groups.
  • Writing Christmas cards for the elderly in the hospital: a warm initiative for people who sometimes have little or no family and find the holiday season difficult.
  • Pride Week: a focus on diversity, inclusion, and LGBTQIA+ rights, with informative and engaging activities.

These projects strengthen students' social awareness and encourage them to look beyond the boundaries of their studies.

Cultural Activities

Cultural enrichment is also part of Medica. Consider:

  • Art exhibitions organized by Medica
  • Creative workshops or lectures
  • Enjoyable evenings at Doc's
  • Our annual culture quiz

These activities encourage students to see the world in a different light.
