If you are interested in brainstorming all kinds of education topics with a great team and soaking up the atmosphere of student representation, don't hesitate any longer. Send an email to medicine@medica.be! We will be happy to give you further info and let you know immediately when our next education meeting will take place. That way, you can come and meet our working group yourself and who knows, take your first steps within student representation. If you are not a fan of e-mailing, you can always address the education officer on campus should you see them, or of course you can always send a Facebook message!

Here you can see who your education officer is:

What do we do and where?

Through the medical education working group, we seek to ensure that the opinions of all medical students are echoed in the best possible way at all possible levels of student representation. We are a team of motivated students who together want to make improvements to the educational landscape. Every fortnight, we sit down with the working group to brainstorm around certain topics and issues within the programme, faculty and university.

Every month, we go to the Permanent Education Committee (POC) with a delegation of representatives. At this POC Medicine, we discuss all aspects of our programme and sit together as students with the programme director of the Medicine programme, professors and faculty staff.

In addition, there is extensive representation at faculty level, with student seats on the Faculty POC (FPOC), Faculty Council and Faculty Board.

At university level, we also represent our students at the KU Leuven Student Council (Stura) biweekly through our Faculty of Medicine Consultative Body (FAGO). This is where all student representatives from each programme within KU Leuven meet and try to take a position on various university-wide issues. We try to represent the opinion of all medical students here as well as possible by informing ourselves in advance using surveys, quick questionnaires or discussion moments.

Finally, several times a year we try to sit together with fellow medical students from other Flemish universities in the Flemish Medical Student Consultation (VGSO). Some hot topics we have dealt with in recent years include the entrance exam and double cohort. In doing so, the VGSO has been able to put its stamp on both topics to arrive at the best solution for all medical students.
